Best Part of Everything

Woven together by an assemblage of aesthetically and emotionally rich interviews, an extraordinary array of archival material and vérité footage, The Best Part of Everything explores an American family facing their hopes, dreams, ambitions, and regrets as the parents prepare for retirement and an empty nest while their 20-something children set out for the real world. The film explores the difficulties associated with adapting to these changing roles by uncovering the subsequent dreams and risks of each member. As each member faces challenges and unexpected obstacles of achieving their own separate dreams, the obligations and responsibilities to each other come to light. How each deals with these obligations serve as the underlying inspiration for the audience to explore deeper within their backgrounds and connect with their own personal stories. Inventive and visually engaging, the film manages to retain an irresistible childlike curiosity and charm.
