(Work-in-progress) I took 6 students interested in international media production with me to the Volta region of eastern Ghana to a town called Shia. We lived in Shia and learned about the traditional process of producing cocoa. Each student created a project as a result of that trip. Here is a short film produced by Jason Duong. Together, we are producing a broadcast half-hour film on the challenges the community has experienced producing cocoa. The film is currently in the post-production stages and should be available soon.
Playing soccer in our front yard with local children. A husband, wife, and neighbor loom over the recently harvested cocoa beans. Children play soccer on the beach looking over the Atlantic. Buying fish at the market. Interviewing Oscar, a Olam employee, about the importance of cocoa. A perpetual red sky from the winds from the Sahara. Everyone dressed in their Sunday best.
